now i understand why interplay was so tight-lipped about the fate of the fallout franchise after disolving black isle... they prolly couldnt talk until the deal to transfer the rights was complete...

while im terrified of how badly bethesda will fuck the series up (and they WILL), its good to know at least there will be SOMEthing, and that the franchise isnt dead... if we're very very lucky, fallout 3 will be a great game, even if it is only fallout in name and not spirit... i just cant see bethesda sticking to the turn-based rpg/strat hybrid formula... it is FAR more likely the game will be either 1) a first- or third-person action/rpg like morrowind, or 2) a 3d tactical strat along the lines of silent storm with little to no real "role playing" past developing your unit's stats (which i dont consider to be role playing AT ALL, but some people do)...

either one of those options is going to suck as a sequel, but with any luck theyll stand on their own as decent games, which will keep the franchise viable and increase the odds we will get a TRUE sequel in the fallout tradition someday...

only time will tell...
