so the word is that "funny people" was #1 at the box office this weekend, which is good. but it only took in around $23 million, which is lower than any other apatow film but 40 year-old virgin, which is bad. its also the lowest opening take for an adam sandler comedy, which is bad. but it did better than the other adam sandler "serious" movies, which is good. but all things considered, it didnt do as well as they wanted or expected.

i have a theory as to why it didnt do as well as expected, based on my own experience saturday:

people woke up and said "hey, i think that new apatow comedy is out! that looked pretty good, lets go see that. hmm ill just get online and check showtimes and oh here it is WHAT THE FUCK ITS TWO AND HALF HOURS LONG ARE YOU SHITTING ME? never mind, pass"
