ive been trying to find decently priced target ammo to take to the range for my XDm-40 for MONTHS. i found ONE box of 50 remington UMC for $20 a few months ago, which was cool, but seeing as 50 rounds would last about 15 minutes, it wasnt worth paying the range fee.

every time i walk into a wal-mart or past a sporting goods store, i go in and check for ammo. ive been doing this a few times a week, every week, for almost 6 months. i kept figuring, eventually im gonna HAVE to be the lucky asshole that walks up right after they stock it, so i can buy them out again... and today was my lucky day!

i had to go to wal-mart to get cat food, because they were out of it sunday when i did my grocery shopping. i grabbed the cat food and started to walk out... i was thinking "man, all i want to do is go home, i dont want to waste my time checking for ammo when i KNOW they wont have it" and got as far as the register before i thought "damnit, if i do, this will be the time theyve got some" so i turned around and headed to the back corner, ready for disappointment.

as soon as the sporting goods attendant saw me, she said "handgun ammo, right?" and i was like, wtf, am i wearing an NRA cap that i forgot about or something?? so i said, "uhh... yeah, how did you know?" and she said "i just know that every time i stock it, within 10 minutes, there someone is to buy it all. its been 9 minutes. ive been waiting for you." which cracked me up... and sure enough, i bought every round of .40s&w they had... all 500.

its not a LOT, but its enough to go to the range a few times and make it worthwhile... and it was CHEAP, cheapest ive seen it anywhere... $30 for a box of 100 after tax.
