ridiculously good deal on a 22" HDMI monitor

just a heads up...

ASUS VH226H 22in Widescreen LCD Monitor 2ms 1000:1 300 cd/m2 Glossy Black Retail

its $160, plus another $20 off with a mail-in rebate...

i think im going to actually have to get one of these, even though i already have a 22" LCD, because i want the HDMI input for any future gaming console i might buy...

[edit:] ok so i havent priced LCD monitors since i got one two years ago... seems theyve come down a lot. this is still a good deal, but probably not a "ridiculously" good deal. also, it seems like it may have some resolution scaling issues, although those should be taken care of with the correct setup in your video drivers. also, read reviews first. caveat emptor, dont blame me if your monitor sucks, and all that good stuff.

Wait until the end of summer. The economy is going to continue to drop, despite what the Dow reflects. Massive unemployment will put pressure on retail outlets to drop prices even further.

Just try to keep in mind the devaluation of the dollar and the possible VAT legislation being passed.

there is just no way that washington would ever put in a VAT unless it was in place of the current income tax. it would be political suicide. theres just no fucking way.

either way i decided to pass on the monitor because i dont really NEED it, no matter how cheap it is...

Wouldn't that require a constitutional amendment though? I'm pretty sure the federal govt was never granted the authority to levy a VAT...

Who needs an amendment, when you can just issue an executive order, or have your 'health czar' write up the policy. We are so far beyond anything resembling a Constitutional Republic that it is laughable. We are due for a reset.
