i was excited when i heard that the first book of one of my favorite fantasy series, "The Sword of Truth," was being turned into a tv show. i was thinking of all the kick-ass scenes and characters that would be awesome to see... when i heard there was a sneak preview "making of" show coming on a few weeks before the series premier, i naturally set my tivo up to record it.

and am i ever glad i did. what a total piece of shit this show is. between all the making of crap i saw all of maybe 7 minutes of the actual show, and that was about 6.5 minutes too many. my first thought was "omfg did you assholes even READ the book??" but then i saw the author in an interview, so i have to believe he was at least somewhat involved... and honestly, i cant believe he would sanction the show. two of the most critical elements to the book are already completely fucked: the book of counted shadows and kaylin's sister's death. if youve read the book, you know what im talking about... the book of counted shadows, from the very first pages of the book, is a central plot point around which the entire book turns, and theyve totally fucked it up. in the tv show, its an actual book. and kaylin has it. wtf? that means richard's father wasnt killed by rahl trying to find it. it means richard himself isnt holding the knowledge of the book, which eliminates the whole climax of the book. and kaylin's sister is killed not by a quad, and not way before the events of the book, but by a group of average soldiers, shot by an arrow.

add all the other little things, like the confessor magic not working like it does in the book, richard killing people left and right with the sword, and the sword itself looking like some kind of fucking lightsaber, and it makes me just go... W T F ???

oh well, at least i learned enough not to waste two hours of my life on the premier of this turd.
