President Bush's administration was mortally damaged by the mishandling of Katrina. It became a symbol of an administration that could do nothing right.heres my take:
The financial meltdown last week was the Katrina equivalent in this campaign.
And it was more than just an uncontrollable event. It was a game-changer. Whatever else the campaigns want to talk about, nothing will matter more than the perception of "who gets it." The winner should be the man who appears to understand these financial problems and can convince the country that he can be the "lifeguard" who can rescue ordinary Americans from drowning in this sea of economic uncertainty.
i want obama to win. not because i want obama for president. i dont. i think obama is about the WORST case scenario for the country at this time. he's like jimmy carter times 2, but worse: at least jimmy was (i believe) sincere in his ineptitude, whereas obama is little more than an over-the-edge extreme left communist talking head that will say anything and everything he thinks people want to hear every time you pull his string. he'll say whatever it takes to get him into power.
so why then do i want this this little shill for the communist party in offce? because theres no way in hell he or mccain or ANYONE ELSE can solve the financial crisis or prevent the already-started depression... and whoever is in office over the next four years (and their party) is going to take it on the chin, HARD, as a result. having another republican in office for the next term is the best way i can think of to GUARANTEE america goes full-bore communist four years from now.
face it, folks: there isnt going to be 'a "lifeguard" who can rescue ordinary Americans from drowning in this sea of economic uncertainty.' theres no knight in shining armor riding to save the american people. the last 10 years have seen the american people sow a field of greed, dishonesty, and rank fucking stupidity with the seeds of financial collapse. now the harvest is coming in, and brother, aint no one gonna be able to stop it.
no, the depression is coming (the leading edge of it is already here) and we DESERVE it. all you dumbass motherfuckers who bought half-million-dollar houses on $75k-a-year incomes using idiotic intrest-only or adjustable-rate paper DESERVE to lose everything. all the dumbass motherfuckers who WROTE that paper to people they KNEW couldnt repay if even the tiniest thing went wrong DESERVE to lose everything. all the dumbass motherfuckers who BOUGHT UP this toxic paper (and dont tell me you actually believed that these "AAA" trenched instruments were anything more than high-risk junk) DESERVE to lose everything. and all the dumbass motherfuckers behind the scenes in the financial markets that made this "shadow banking" system possible as an attempt to detour around the banking regulations put in place to prevent EXACTLY this kind of crisis DESERVE to lose everything.
you all went looking for a "greater fool" and SURPRISE! youre it! the greatest fools of all at the end of a long string of fools. and you ALL DESERVE EXACTLY WHAT YOURE GETTING.
its time to stop with the fiction that anyone or anything is going to be able to save us. its time to stop throwing good taxpayer money after bad with $700 billion (!!) bailout packages that will only bankrupt the government. its time to just STOP all the scrambling and dodging that can only lead ultimately to hyperinflation and worsen the inevitable collapse. its time for us to just take our fucking lumps, let the market re-adjust to sanity, and eventually heal itself.
but we all know this isnt going to happen. which is why i want obama to take all the blame for it. maybe we can get lucky and find another reagan to clean up the mess afterwards.
[edit: although it should be obvious, id like to state for the record that i am not an economist, nor do i even know very much about it. i am talking straight out of my ass here, as with everything else posted on my blog :) ]
