memory is a funny thing, the way sometimes an event or conversation from decades ago will just pop into your head. happened to me today... i remembered camping in east texas, and finding a number of fossils from oceanic creatures. i remember asking my dad how they wound up hundreds of miles away from the coast... he explained that where we were was once covered by ocean, something i found hard to believe at the time, and felt compelled to confirm when we got back home.

i went to the library later that week and discovered that sure enough, it was true. seems that in the cretaceous period, the world was a much different place. it was significantly hotter, so much so that there was no ice at the poles... at all. which explained the much higher levels of the oceans.

huh.

much hotter. no polar ice caps. ocean levels much higher.

amazingly enough, it seems that at other points, the earth was almost completely frozen, followed by periods of thawing. lather rinse repeat.

weird wild stuff.

omg, i just had this wild-ass idea! this is all PROOF that there were earlier advanced civilizations on the earth, probably SEVERAL of them! i mean, there HAD to be, right? and they all drove gigantic SUVs! just imagine it, civilizations rising, reaching the pinnacle of automotive technology, then collapsing, over and over again in an endless cycle of environmental irresponsibility. what the hell else could POSSIBLY account for those freezes and thaws, right? all those climate changes are just rock-solid EVIDENCE! it isnt just a crackpot theory anymore, its the TRUTH!
